Pictures from Friday and Reminders for Wahsega!

Reminders for our all-day trip on Monday, May 2nd!
We are very excited about our trip on Monday to Wahsega 4-H Center, an environmental education facility in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Remember that check in is at 6:45 and we will be departing Davis at 7am!
We plan on returning to Davis by 7pm.
Please be sure to send your child with a sack lunch, as lunch WILL NOT be provided!
They all need to bring a water bottle as well!

Activities for the Day

Our students will experience three classes at Wahsega:
·         HERPETOLOGY
·         STREAM ECOLOGY
·         PIONEER LIFE

The stream ecology class allows the children to get really close to nature-- the kids get to wade in a freshwater stream and explore the life in a stream.  However, since they will be wading, they will be getting wet!  If your child owns a pair of sandals with a back strap (like Tevas, Chocos, or Keens) that you don't mind them wearing in the water, please have them wear these on Monday.  If your child does not have a pair of those sandals, please make sure you send them with an extra pair of tennis shoes and socks because they will be very uncomfortable if they have to walk around in squishy shoes all day!
Prohibited Items

Students may not bring cell phones or any other electronic devices on this trip.  Any prohibited items brought will be confiscated, and additional consequences will be imposed upon the student’s return to school.

Money and Valuables

Students should not bring any money or anything of great value.

Uniform

  • Students must wear their teal Davis Academy uniform shirts and navy uniform bottom or blue jeans.
  • We will be doing quite a bit of walking, so please make sure your child wears good walking shoes.
  • Students are encouraged to dress appropriately as this trip will occur rain or shine, and we will be outside if it is raining.

Here are some pictures from today's really cool presentation "Mystery Reader's Theater" by Laughing Matters and Young Audiences.  It turns out our class picked wrong!  It was really "Philosopher", played by Jacob-- not "Francis", played by Jack!

Time Matzahs On...

It's a pretty short week-- only three days!

HW for tonight:
LA: Make sure you have everything you need for your YA night book! If there is a special picture you want to add for your "About the Author" page, bring it in! If I don't have a self-selected picture, I will pick one from pictures I have at school.

Math: None

SS: Tonight at dinner, have a discussion about taxes. Ask your parents how they might feel if they were taxed without being allowed to vote on representatives who make the laws. Discuss what "no taxation without representation" means, and why the colonists were so upset with the English King. There will be an open book quiz on Friday over Chapter 8, Lessons 1 & 2. There will also be a Chapter 8 Test (not open book!) on May 12.

TOMORROW IS A FIELD TRIP TO THE CCYM.  Make sure you wear teal top and navy uniform bottoms.
