1. Sy and Sy had half a cake. How much of the cake is left? (By Sy)
2. There were six pies. Each pie had four pieces. Eight people want two pieces. How many pieces are left? Make your answer an improper fraction. (By Izzy, Tyler, and Jamie)
3. Ilana, Katy and Sarah had a pie. There was a full pie. Ilana and Sarah shared a piece of the pie. They had 1/4 of the pie. Katy had 1/4 of the pie. How much of that pie is left? (By Ilana)
4. If Joe has 2/3 of a pizza, and Oik eats one whole pizza, how much pizza was eaten? (By Tristan, Ari, and Elliott)
5. Ploto and Ilana want pie. They 8/8 of the pie. How much pie do they each get? (By Michaela and Madi)
6. Pluto and Dog the Cat wanted a brownie so they made one. They were going to split it in half, but then Cat the Dog came over and wanted part of the brownie too. How did they divide it equally? (By Jason, Mason, and Charlotte)
7. If Adam eats 1/3 of an apple, and Roy eats 6/7 of an apple. How much did they eat in all? (By Elliott, Tristan, and Ari)
8. If 15 people at the mall are surveyed about their favorite colors. Here are the results: 5 people liked green, 10 people liked purple, and no one liked blue. What fraction of the people liked purple? Simplify your answer. (By Jamie, Izzy, and Tyler)
9. Pluto made 3/4 of a pie. Nico made 1/2 of a pie. How much do they have together? Simplify your answer by making it a mixed number. (By No Name)
Number 5 doesn't make sense.

ReplyDeleteThe one that seemed pretty realistic was number 8. Number 7 and 9 are the hardest ones because you have to convert then simplify them. They are important to practice in case real life situations use math.
ReplyDeleteI think that numbers 1,2,3,4,7,8 and 9 were the ones that could happen in my life.I think that number 2 is the most challenging because it was kind of confusing,and you had to turn your answer into an improper fraction.Word problems are important to practice because it improves your math skills by a WHOLE lot.=) THIS IS FROM ELLIOTT!

ReplyDeleteI though that Izzy's, Tyler's, and Jamie's word problem was confusing because the answer can't be changed into an improper fraction. (Madi)
I think problem 7 was very challenging. It was challeging because the denominators are not the same.

i thought problem 2,7 were pretty hard.problem 8 was pretty hard.
